Our most favorite day of the week – Wednesday!

I know many think of Wednesday as hump day, looking forward to the weekend.

However, we quilters know that Wednesday is the best day of the week.

I made a decision earlier this year to not go to Houston for Quilt Market and Festival, for the first time in over 2 decades.  Time to enjoy Autumn in Nebraska.  I will miss being there and seeing friends of course, will not miss the 2 day drive down and back, and being gone for close to 2 weeks.  Bonus – time at home with Russ!

This weeks block 23 is a lovely 6″ finished block called ‘Broken Windows’, more Jo like in size you will agree.  I sewed it with ‘Hickory Road’ (January 2019 shipping).

BH2, Block 23

Followed with pressing, and it isn’t pretty this week.  I picked up the corner pieces wrong and had to un-sew, then when I re-sewed, I couldn’t press two corners like I had the first two corners.  I’m showing it to you anyway.  Wasn’t worth unpicking and sewing again, a girl has other sewing at hand.  I’m sure this does not happen to you, does it.

Block 23, pressing

Notice the top corner units the joining is pressed horizontal, and the bottom corner units are pressed vertical.  Oh well!  I’m not perfect and the front looks good, so carry on!

Here is the link to the block:

Be sure and see what our friends have done with this weeks blocks, as my partner Sheri has Block 24, another double up week.  No coupons needed.

Enjoy a lovely Autumn Season a favorite for me, including hours of happy sewing.   Jo

  1. That’s why your my favorite, you don’t mind showing us your human too! Yep, we have all done it.. have a great day!

  2. Oh Jo, I love that you count extra time at home with Russ as a bonus! That’s how I feel about my husband, any extra time spent together is a treat! Enjoy it! Love the block too, all those tiny triangles!

  3. I was on a list for a 2-day bus trip to Houston with my sisters. My daughter called early in the summer and asked if we would like to come up to WI and play grandma and grandpa for a week and of course, I said yes. And then I looked at the calendar . Yep, right in the middle of the Festival. Well, Houston will be there next year, but my grandkids will be a year older and I would have missed a week with 2 of my grandkids. Love your block.

  4. Love the block and the fabric. Yes happens to us all. I’m babysitting my two granddaughters two dogs. One is a puppy and it’s like watching toddlers.
