2017 Moda BlockHeads BOW – Block 44

It is our most favorite day of the week . . .  Wednesday!

The Question for this week . .  Do you make New Year’s Resolutions.  Simple answer ‘no’, gave up on that eons ago.  Every day I try to be my better self, all year long.  I still need help on scheduling how long a task really takes, I always under-estimate.  A big Sigh on that one, because it probably won’t change now.

Second part of the question this week – A Word for the year?  Can’t think of one word.   Always seems to be a sentence.  Maybe the word ‘vacation’, that is what Russ wants to do, get in the car for a long road trip, some ideas where to go, mostly enjoy the journey and the unexpected finds along the way.  Me of course will have handwork to take along, maybe I’ll make a Jo size quilt!   LOL

This weeks block is by our friend Betsy Chutchian, Layer’s Puzzle, me thinks I maybe need a lawyer when you see the picture, or maybe just warm up the seam ripper?

You will find Betsy’s block on her Blog:   http://betsysbestquiltsandmore.blogspot.com/

You will find our friends versions on their Blogs:

Block 44, dang

A little ‘un-sewing’ happening on this one.

Next is the pressing for my block:

Block 44, pressing

Now . . . my version of this block, I was going to use at least 3 fabrics, after my early snafu, happy I stayed with two fabrics, easier to fix my goof up.

Block 44

Finally the link to the permanent page that is updated weekly to include the new block, and a link to lots of stuff, you know the drill by now.     http://blog.modafabrics.com/blockheads/

As we wind down this most wonderful journey, I send you wishes for a most Happy New Year . . . all year long.

2017 Moda BlockHeads BOW – Block 44 — 4 Comments

  1. My husband and I travel and live on the road. We live in a 24 ft travel trailer. You u should buy a big class
A and go. About a 40 ft would hold a lot of your supplies and work. Your hubby would love it t and you can see some nice National Parks. We are in Texas now heading back to Arizona where it’s warmer. Take care.

  2. My word of the year, as it relates to quilting, is accuracy. I’ve improved, but I need to do better at cutting accurately (measure twice, cut once) and getting the accurate scant 1/4″ seam allowance. The happiest of New Years to you! Thank you for all of your beautiful blocks you’ve provided to us Blockheads!

  3. Going to finish a beautiful flowery reproduction sampler (Victoria’s Garden by Heartstring Samplery) that I started three years ago. Period. It’s going to happen this year. I think. 🙂 And of course, keep collecting more fabrics for my charm quilts. I need about 4,000 more to reach my goal of 10,000! This year I am going to get them organized into bins so they won’t be scattered all over the house. If I could just keep from getting distracted by the gorgeous hand dyed lace knitting yarns being made and the patterns for very large wraps and shawls that go with them!

  4. Wow, #44… I’ve so enjoyed Blockheads and feel like I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the best! Thank you, Jo, for participating and sharing so much of your time. I guess if I had a word for 2018, it would be Perseverance, and no I do not make resolutions.
