week 4, block 4 – Moda BlockHeads BOW

Good morning on a rainy Wednesday morning, it ‘was’ going to be a great day to hang in the studio and sew, sew, sew!

After paying bills and other office work, including a US Dept of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration, US Census Bureau, the 2017 Commodity Flow Survey.  Seriously folks, they want to know how much this very small business ships during a specified week in March.  It states it will take an average of 2.5 hours to complete . . . I’m thinking I may not get to sew today after all.  Cross your fingers it only takes me 2.5 hours to complete. And, there’s more – I get to do this every quarter this year!

The good news I have my block done for this week!  It was fun to appliqué Jan’s charming Bee Skep, it makes me think of Spring!

Go to Jan’s Blog to download this weeks pattern.

If you don’t see the pattern yet, check back, she may have slept in this rainy morning, don’t you love to do that, have patience sweet friends.

week 4, block 4 – Moda BlockHeads BOW — 13 Comments

  1. Will there be cutting directions and a fabric list for the appliqué template? Some of us are rookies at this and need a bit more.

    • Linda, Did you click on the link to Jan’s Blog post, we each post our block with the directions. Jan’s pattern is a line drawing to make the templates needed for the appliqué. Happy Sewing! Jo

    • Nancy, I’m not sure what you mean about figures you did not understand. Did you click on the link to Jan’s Blog post to get the directions? Jo

    • Pat,
If you read further down, it says to go to Jan’s Blog to get this weeks block directions, then below that is a list of the other 5 Blockheads Blog addresses. Click on Jan’s Blog, scroll down until you find it.
      Hope this helps! Jo

    • Penny,
Jan has how to videos on YouTube showing her appliqué methods. Those of us who appliqué work from line drawings and use our favorite methods.

Have you ever appliquéd? Do you have books with appliqué info? There are many, many ways to appliqué, use your favorite method.
      Hope this helps!

  2. Love your block!! Yes, Aurifil is the greatest thread. I use 50 wt. Haven’t ever used another size for applique. Is that 80?? I love a fine thread, so must try it. It is so much fun to get a new block each week. Easy peasy to keep up with them, I am not doing 2 a week!!

  3. Really. Would it be so difficult to print the quantity needed for this block? Are the rest of them going to be so thoughtless?
