Good Morning

I always have good intentions to Blog, other things seem to occupy my time.  My machine sewing Retreat was last week, now I’m mid packing to leave today for Tennessee.  I’m teaching at ‘A Mountain Quilt Fest’ in Pigeon Forge next week.  I have 5 days of teaching that includes 6 classes and 1 lecture.  Russ gets to enjoy the Smokies while I work, is something wrong with this picture?  🙂

Russ and I are adding a couple of days before the event to spend the weekend with a cousin that lives north of Knoxville.  Will be fun and wonderful to spend time with family.  After teaching we plan to drive on to Asheville and see Biltmore Estate, I think since watching Downton Abbey it will be interesting!

In the meantime I have a couple of things to share with you.

I have a quilt in this issue:  and my name is on the cover at the top along with my friend Nancy Mahoney!

Perfect for the Holidays!

I bought an antique quilt block years ago in Houston, maybe 10 years?  I finally got around to re-creating it and making a quilt. I like that there is piecing and appliqué in each block. The blocks finish at 12″, so this project moves along nicely.  Enjoy making yours!

  1. I love this block! Now I will need to find the magazine. You are right, you will get a different sense of life at Biltmore House being a fan of Downton Abbey. Be sure you take the tour that goes behind the scenes to learn about the life and role of a servant. The house is especially beautiful by candlelight during the Christmas holiday. After that, you need to put Newport, Rhode Island on your bucket list to see the mansions along the Cliff Walk.

  2. Jo – you’ll love Asheville and the Biltmore House! My husband is from Ashevillle and his mom grew up on the Biltmore Estate; her father was the estate ranger. We’ve been there many times and there was always something I discovered that I hadn’t noticed before. It’s a beautiful place, house and grounds. Plus the wine that’s made on the estate. Be sure you get some of that!

  3. It sounds like an awesome trip Jo. I hope I can go to one of your events sometime. Remember Ann Arbor Michigan. Enjoy!

  4. How doo we get a heads up on your classes??? Boy what I would do to get a class of yours ! But then you shouldn’t be working while in the Smokies’ ! Have a good time, from Tennessean, Susan

  5. Hi Jo! I live in Asheville & will be attending the Quilt Fest in Tenn. how exciting to hear you will be there! Will you be having a booth or just teaching? Hope I see you. I just bought your “Woodland Collection”. It is beautiful. And yes, you will love Biltmore. Be sure to visit the Greenhouse! And lunch at the Stables Resturant is fun. Enjoy!
