As you know I really love handwork, these are pieces of hand-pieced basket blocks. They were used in my Emily’s Hand-Pieced Baskets quilt featured in my ‘Coming Home’ book.

It was so much fun selecting the fabrics for this quilt.  I really had planned to set my quilt with a medium brown print and it just wasn’t right.  Began auditioning other fabrics and the subdued blue/gray print won.  Vintage appeal anyone?

I really enjoy take-along projects, before you know it you have enough blocks to assemble a quilt.  Bonus project in my book.

  1. Thanks for sharing all these projects; each one more beautiful than the other. My eye, however, was caught by the little brown transferware fruit dish. I have the same one in blue but the brown looks so wonderful with your old fashioned looking quilt. My fabric stash is in competiton with my dish stash …both more than any sane person should be allowed to have! LOL But so lovely…

    • Quilt is a few years old ^(2009 or earlier) it is in my book ‘Coming Home’.
The setting fabric is a blue -gray. I know you can find a substitute!

  2. i am looking for a pattern that has a design on the top of the quilt and the bottom is all flying geese. do you know what book it is in or a picture of it.
